How long does FDLE Live Scan processing take?
Processing time can vary depending on the agency receiving the submission, the type of background check, fingerprint quality, identity matches and whether additional review is required. Many electronic submissions move quickly, but a fingerprinting provider cannot guarantee the final agency turnaround time.
What happens after your fingerprints are submitted?
Your fingerprints and identifying information are transmitted electronically using the ORI or other routing information supplied for your screening. The requesting agency then receives or retrieves the resulting background-check information according to its own process.
What can slow down a background check?
Common causes of delay include an incorrect ORI or applicant information, fingerprints that require resubmission, records that need additional review, or delays within the requesting agency after FDLE processing is complete.
How can you reduce avoidable delays?
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and the exact ORI, OCA or screening instructions provided by your employer, licensing board or agency. Make sure the information entered at your appointment matches your official paperwork.
What if your employer says they have not received the results?
First confirm that the correct routing information was used. The employer or requesting agency may also need to check its own portal or screening system. If you were given a transaction or submission reference, keep it with your records.
